Inspired by true events ...
Inspired by true events, TORCHED is a new solo dramatic comedy by acclaimed writer and director Kate Twa. TORCHED introduces Ana, who at twelve years-old was nearly killed in a chemical explosion at an elementary school when a science experiment went wrong. Ana suffered third-degree burns to two-thirds of her body and fell into a coma. Ana's fifteen year-old sister, Claire, recounts the day that changed everything; and we see how Claire and a series of characters try the best they can to cope with the unfathomable. Inspiring, dark, and funny, TORCHED is one woman, twelve-character play that will make you laugh, break your heart and give you hope.
TORCHED toured across Canada to great Critical Acclaim on the Canadian Fringe Festival Circuit in 2005, was selected Critics' Choice in Montreal and Toronto and was Runner-Up for the The Centor Award for Best Production at the Montreal Fringe Festival. The play was selected Pick of the Fringe at the Vancouver Fringe Festival.
Tour destinations for TORCHED were Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Vancouver, Penticton, and Summerland.
